HII - MDIS is currently seeking a Fleet Synthetic Training Support Engineer to work out of their San Diego office. Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following): * Performs assigned tasks in conjunction with requirements delineated in contractual Technical Instructions (TI) as a Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) Support Engineer for AEGIS / SSDS platforms primarily related to the test, evaluation and assessment of integrated training capabilities. Additional tasks related to the collaboration with combat and training system development activities and In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs) for the investigation and resolution of issues encountered by ships and training organizations in support of Fleet and Unit-level training are applicable. * 1. Work with other FST support functional leads (e.g. FCA, AEGIS, EW, etc.) to collect data in support of Integrated Training Systems (ITS) performance during all levels of Fleet training events. * 2. Maintain liaison responsibilities and a direct working relationship with shipboard and staff representatives from Type Commanders (TYCOMs), Numbered Fleet Commanders (NFC), Major Training Commands, and Warfare Centers in support of Training & Readiness systems engineering development, design, testing and fielding. * 3. Support preparation for and participation in a wide variety of meetings, both PEO IWS 1IT sponsored, and those held by other government activities and Fleet Commands to coordinate combat and training systems design, development, introduction, planning and integration into multiple platforms and shore sites. * 4. Develop a variety of engineering, technical data management, logistics, and analytical briefing products to support the various shipboard and shore-site training system events. * 5. Participate in technical reviews supporting training and readiness systems interfaces. * 6. Provide briefings and other assistance to Fleet Command representatives, as directed, to include Fleet Readiness Event Life Cycle and future Training System Capabilities development. * 7. Coordinate with Tactical Training Groups and Afloat Training Groups to determine operational capabilities and limitations of shipboard systems, as well as standard shipboard operations with these systems during Fleet Synthetic Training events to include inport FST-Unit level through FST-Joint level events, Ballistic Missile Defense Exercises (BMDEXs), and LVC underway events. Additional events will be evaluated for support. Qualifications and Experience: Required- * Must be capable of working in an inport ship environment and capable of supporting underway shipboard training events, as required. * Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to work at senior staff level required.---- MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel expertise required. * U.S citizenship required. Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Preferred ------ 10 years------ experience in U.S. Navy Combat and Training Systems operations desired, to include: * Experience with operations and maintenance of AEGIS and/or Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Combat Systems; knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) capabilities, and related training functionality and interfaces used in both organic stand-alone training and Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) / Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) in both single ship and multi-ship distributed architectures using NCTE network systems (e.g., JSAF, NETN). * Knowledge of current Fleet Response Training Plan requirements for Fleet and Unit-level training desired. * Knowledge of NCTE network, DIS, HLA, BFTT and BOPC requirements to place shipboard systems into a FST or LVC training environment desired. * Experience with installation and support of recently fielded surface ship training portable embarkation kits desired (e.g., CIT PEK, VMTS, VCP, BEWT II PEK). -------- * Experience with Navy waterfront maintenance organizations, processes and working with TYCOM/Fleet Training Commands (e.g. TTGP, ATGSD) for surface ship training certification requirements desired.
