Job Description:

Purchasing Assistant needed to assist the Director of Purchasing with the day-to-day efficient and effective performance of Purchasing operations including, the bid process, contracts administration, buyer upgrade administration, work order administration and trade/subcontractor insurance compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the Custom Option Request Process.
  • Assists with the Design Center Addendum/Work Order Process.
  • Assists with the Contracts Administration Process; bid packages, spreadsheets, contracts, change orders, purchase orders. Assists with the ordering of architectural plans.
  • Assists with the input (data entry) of IHMS Work Orders / Purchase Orders Assists with the monitoring of insurance compliance.
  • Assists with Design Center Catalog maintenance.
  • Assists in coordinating work/research with other departments: Design Center, Construction, Warranty Service, Accounting, Sales Marketing, etc.
  • Assists with miscellaneous duties relative to projects(s).


  • High school diploma or general education degree.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is necessary.
  • Previous homebuilding experience a plus.


  • The ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other company personnel is extremely important.


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (the following is required per company policy):

  • Current Driver' s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Employment Eligibility Verification Documents

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS (the requirements listed below are required for this position):

  • Windows
  • Typing / 50 wpm
  • 10-Key
  • Word
  • Excel
  • IHMS Software desirable

Salary: $40, 000-$45, 000 depending on qualifications/experience
